Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions Tiago Pires Surf School (TPSS) may update them whenever necessary.

1. Surf Teaching

1.1 General Information

  • TPSS teaches surfing at all levels (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) and for all ages. Minimum recommended age: 6 years.

  • TPSS provides all necessary surfing equipment.

  • All instructors are experienced, familiar with teaching locations, and accredited by FPS (Portuguese Surfing Federation).

  • Surfing involves risk. By joining a lesson or renting equipment, you accept these risks and agree to follow the instructor guidance.

  • All surf lesson students are covered by Allianz accident insurance. Further information is available through our official communication channels:

1.2 Lesson Structure

  • Lessons are offered in group or private format.

  • Group lessons follow a maximum ratio of 5 students per instructor.

  • Sessions last approximately 2 hours, including warm-up, briefing, safety rules, and surfing time (depending on ocean conditions).

  • Teaching locations: Praia do Matadouro, Praia do Sul, and Praia da Fonte da Telha.

2. Bookings and Scheduling

  • Bookings can be made at the school, via website, email, or phone/WhatsApp.

  • Online bookings must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance and will be confirmed within a maximum of 24 hours.

  • A deposit of 50€ is required to validate all bookings. The remaining balance must be paid before the first lesson.

  • For insurance activation, first-time students must provide: full name, date of birth, nationality, surf level, email, and phone number.

  • Weekly lesson schedules are communicated in person or via text/email.

  • Students must confirm their attendance within the indicated timeframe in each message.

  • Lesson times depend on tides, weather, and sea conditions.

  • If conditions are unsafe, lessons will be rescheduled, and new times will be communicated via text/email.

3. Insurance

  • All lesson participants are covered by Allianz accident insurance. Coverage includes injuries sustained during the lesson and injuries caused accidentally to others during the session.

  • Pre-existing medical conditions may not be covered. Students should review the policy or contact Allianz if needed.

4. Payments

  • Payments can be made by our e-commmerce page at the time of booking.

  • Credit card or cash at the school

  • Via bank transfer

  • For transfers, a payment confirmation must be sent to surfschool@tiagopires.pt or fontedatelha@tiagopires.pt.

  • TPSS cannot guarantee change for cash amounts over 200€ and does not accept coins under 1€.

  • Tax information must be provided for invoice issuance.

  • Card payments are accepted and preferred. American Express and checks are not accepted.

  • All prices include VAT.

5. No-Show, Cancellation, and Rescheduling

No-Show

  • Absences without notice are fully charged.

Cancellation (minimum 24 hours)

  • Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson receive a full refund.

Same-Day Cancellation

  • Same-day cancellations may incur a fee of up to 75% of the lesson cost.

Rescheduling

  • Rescheduling depends on availability.

  • When no alternatives are available, TPSS will issue a full refund for rescheduling requests made through official channels at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Rescheduling requests made with less than 24 hours’ notice follow the same rules as same-day cancellations.

6. Weather and Safety

  • TPSS may cancel lessons when conditions are unsafe.

  • Clients will be informed as soon as possible and reimbursed when applicable.

Refund Processing

  • Refunds for eligible cancellations are processed by bank transfer within 21 working days.

  • Clients must provide full bank account details to complete the refund.

RENTALS

These conditions apply to all equipment rented from TPSS, including surfboards (performance, hard-top, softboards), wetsuits, fins, neoprene boots, and other items.

7. Equipment Use

  • Equipment must be used only for its intended purpose and according to TPSS instructions.

  • Surfing and water sports carry inherent risks. Customers accept all risks associated with equipment use.

8. Damage Fees

The user is responsible for the cost of damaged, broken, or lost equipment, up to the following maximum amounts:

  • High-performance board: 600€

  • Hard-top board: 400€

  • Softboard: 300€

  • Wetsuit: 150€

  • Surfboard fin: 100€

  • Neoprene shoes: 40€

TPSS may waive or reduce fees at its discretion.

9. Payment of Damage Fees

  • Damage fees must be paid immediately when requested by TPSS.

  • Customers authorize TPSS to charge the credit card or payment method on file for any applicable fee.

10. Wave Conditions

  • Rental fees do not guarantee surf conditions.

  • Customers are responsible for checking wave forecasts. TPSS is not responsible for dissatisfaction regarding wave quality.

11. Early Returns

  • Early returns within the rental period are not refundable.

12. Release and Indemnification

  • Users release TPSS from all claims arising from equipment use.

  • Users agree to indemnify TPSS and its team from any liabilities, damages, or expenses resulting from equipment use.

13. Entire Agreement

  • These terms constitute the full agreement between TPSS and the customer.

  • Any modifications must be in writing and signed by both parties.

  • By using TPSS equipment or services, the customer agrees to these terms.
